As the days grow longer and the sun warmer, there’s nothing better than sipping refreshing summer cocktails with family and friends. From fruity spritzes and frosé margaritas, to tangy Palomas and bubbly Pimm's cups, there are so many drinks that taste like sunshine in a glass. The same goes for low (or no!) alcohol cocktails, a trend gaining momentum in the entertaining space. Alcohol-free and low-alcohol cocktails are not-so-quietly becoming a favorite among those looking to cut down on calories, ease up on hangovers, and above all, be more inclusive of guests' preferences at gatherings. In short, they're a win-win for everyone — and bound to help make this summer one to remember.

So, if you've been eyeing low or no-alcohol cocktail recipes on Pinterest, TikTok, or Instagram, you've come to the right place. Chances are you're already aware that they rival higher-alcohol counterparts in looks — and we’re thrilled to report that they do so in terms of taste, too. Whether you're itching to try the trend, or are still on the fence and looking for a push, we're here to convince you why you should serve low or alcohol-free cocktails at all your upcoming summer gatherings. Keep scrolling to check out our cocktail recipes, must-have glassware, and garnishes that'll make your low-alcohol or alcohol-free cocktails the talk of the party.

Our favorite non-alcoholic cocktail recipes

You know the saying, "Don't knock it until you try it?" Well, that rings especially true for our favorite alcohol-free cocktail recipes. We included drink options in which you can either forgo spirits altogether or infuse your beverage with a buzzy, non-alcoholic alternative like Seedlip Grove 42. (FYI: This particular spirit deserves to be on your radar. It gives you the craft cocktail experience sans alcohol, thanks to Mediterranean orange, ginger, lemongrass and lemon peel.) Whichever cocktail you choose, it'll look as elegant in a glass as its alcoholic counterparts and taste like a mixologist whipped them up.

…Or consider a low-ABV cocktail recipe

Maybe you're leaning towards the low-alcohol route instead of venturing into alcohol-free territory. The key to crafting a low-ABV cocktail is choosing a spirit with a lower alcohol content than more traditional options such as vodka, rum, and gin. Spirits with lower alcohol levels, such as Pimm's No. 1, are good alternatives. (Pimm's boasts a 25 percent ABV, whereas vodka and rum, for instance, typically clock in around 40 percent.) One of the many things we love about Pimm’s is how versatile it is in summer cocktails — you can easily whip up a refreshing Pimm's No. 1 & Lemonade or try your hand at something a little more complex, such as Pimm's Punch.

Get great glassware

Your guests probably won't ask about the alcohol content of their cocktail, but they're likely to take notice of your glassware. Be sure to choose glassware that elevates the drinking experience. For example, consider investing in a chic jug for serving batched cocktails, or opt for elegant stemware for toasting at a more intimate gathering. When paired with carefully selected garnishes and other accessories, your guests will be too busy enjoying the impeccable vibes to worry about whether they have a buzz.

Don't forget the garnishes

While the taste of your cocktail might ultimately steal the spotlight, don’t forget that the little details elevate the experience. That’s where garnishes come in. They not only add flavor, color, and aesthetic appeal to your drink but also make the cocktail experience feel more authentic.

Ahead of your summer events, stock up on garnish essentials. If you’re making a big-batch cocktail, go for easy-to-prep garnishes such as dried herbs (like mint), or fresh citrus slices or berries. If you’re crafting drinks by the glass, you might want to level them up a notch with edible flowers or jalapeño slices for a fiery kick. (But no pressure.)
