Taking cues from savory basil coconut curry, this cocktail bursts with sweet and piquant flavors and lots of bright lime.Depending on your preference, you can switch up which variety of basil you use. Sweet basil lends notes of anise, mint and pepper while Thai basil adds spicy and licorice flavors. The earthy, vegetal aspects of Don Julio Reposado provide depth, while its caramel and agave notes add a complementary sweetness.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz. Don Julio Reposado Tequila
  • 0.75 oz. Agave
  • 0.75 oz. Lime Juice
  • 2 oz. Coconut Milk
  • 4-6 Basil Leaves

Directions

  1. Combine tequila, agave, lime juice, coconut milk and several basil leaves in a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Shake until combined (ice should be fairly diluted and basil should be moderately bruised to release flavor) and strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
  3. Garnish with basil leaves.
